Metropolitan Pavel threatened journalists with a stick

Metropolitan Pavlo of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate came to the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and began threatening physical violence against media representatives. Moreover, he refused to admit that Russia had attacked Ukraine.

The controversial metropolitan, surrounded by security guards, entered the territory of the Lavra, complaining that he was allegedly being "provoked". This was reported by an OBOZREVATEL correspondent from the scene (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The former abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, known by the nickname "Mercedes", came to the territory of the reserve surrounded by a "support group" and immediately clashed with journalists. He demanded that they stop filming and threatened to beat the journalists with a stick.

He was then asked to say that the terrorist state of Russia had attacked Ukraine. The Metropolitan refused to answer, and his "support group" called such questions provocative. It is worth noting that one of Pavlo's 'bodyguards', dressed in a church cassock, damaged the media representative's equipment.

The metropolitan also "blessed" the believers to continue to stand on the territory of the Lavra and block the work of the commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine. Moreover, the Metropolitan complained that he had invested his money in the Lavra for many years and said that he would demand a refund in court.

As reported, Metropolitan Pavel, against the backdrop of his eviction from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, made threats and curses against President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He "guaranteed" that God would not forgive the leader of the state for the expulsion of the Moscow Church.

It should be noted that on March 10, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve announced the termination of the lease agreement with the UOC-MP monastery. Its representatives had to leave the territory of the monastery by March 29.

On "Day X", the UOC-MP believers began to gather at the Kyiv Cave Monastery. Hundreds of people came to the monastery's territory ostensibly to pray, but also managed to cause a scandal. One of the ardent supporters of the UOC-MP attacked the media and said that no one would leave the Lavra.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, appointed Archimandrite Abraham (Lotysh) as acting abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. He expressed hope that the state would help protect the abbot and the monastery from possible provocations by supporters of the Moscow Patriarchate.
