How to quickly whiten things: five proven ways

Yulia PoteriankoLife
Proper soaking before washing will restore whiteness to your clothes

White things look extremely impressive, both in clothes and in the interior. However, how many times have you stopped yourself from making such a purchase, arguing that it would be extremely difficult to care for? The slightest stains and deposits on the fabric spoil the item almost irrevocably. However, things may not be so dramatic if you know how to whiten them.

OBOZREVATEL has put together some simple recipes of improvised means. They are suitable for different situations. Don't forget to check the label of the item before washing to see if this approach can be applied to it.

Laundry soap and baking soda

For a bleaching soak, rub each white item thoroughly with laundry soap and then put everything in warm water. Add two tablespoons of baking soda to the container with the clothes or textiles, mix everything thoroughly and leave it to soak for two hours. This is the safest way to get rid of yellowing on the fabric.

Hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, and baking soda

This method will remove fresh stains and gray deposits, but it will not cope with old dirt. Take two tablespoons each of peroxide, ammonia, and baking soda and dissolve them in warm water. Soak everything you want to whiten in this solution for 3 hours. After that, wash the items as usual.

Boric acid

This bleach will work on both cotton and synthetic fabrics. It will effectively remove gray deposits. Take dry acid and two liters of slightly warm water. Dissolve 2-3 tablespoons of the product in water and put the laundry in the solution for two hours. Then rinse and wash as usual.

Mustard

This is a remedy of last resort if other methods do not help. Take two tablespoons of dry mustard and pour it into two liters of hot water. Mix thoroughly and put the items in the mustard water. Leave it to act overnight. In the morning, rinse everything well and wash it in the machine.

Baking soda, bleach and sunflower oil

A detergent-based cleaner is good for removing any stains, but it can be too aggressive for delicate fabrics. To make it, take 250 ml of powder, 4 tablespoons of bleach, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and a few teaspoons of vegetable oil. Put all the ingredients in a suitable container - a metal basin or saucepan - and pour boiling water over. Mix everything well and soak what you want to whiten in this solution. Boil the items in it over low heat for 20 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave the clothes and textiles to soak for 7 hours.
