That's why Express asked laundry experts for life hacks on how to deal with traces of blood on textiles. And the first piece of advice the journalists received was to never wash such stains with hot water.
Under the influence of heat, blood proteins clot much faster, if not instantly. This literally makes the stain penetrate deeper into the fibers. And after that, it becomes much more difficult to fight it.
It is also important not to rub such a stain. Friction can spread traces of blood to other areas of the fabric, which is another undesirable consequence of stain control.
As with any other type of stain, promptness is important in the case of blood. After all, the longer the stain remains on the fabric, the more difficult it is to remove.
The first step in dealing with traces of blood should be washing the fabric in cold water. Hold the contaminated area under a stream or soak it in a container. This will wash away what has not yet dried and soften the already coagulated proteins.
Next, take white vinegar. Dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:2 and soak the stain in this solution for 10-20 minutes. In the end, the stain is washed again. You can also blot it several times with a damp cloth or cotton pad.
The process should be repeated several times until the stain disappears. If the fabric is delicate or requires dry cleaning, it is better not to take risks and seek professional help.
