How to keep your home warm: tips that won't cost you anything

Some heating life hacks do not require additional costs

Even if we assume that the Russians will not attack our country's energy infrastructure this winter, knowing how to insulate your home is a good skill to have. In particular, it helps to save on heating in buildings where it is possible. And it is provided in most new buildings.

Therefore, OBOZ.UA has collected several life hacks that will help you keep your home warm. And do not spend extra money on it.

Put something under the door

No matter how quickly you close the door behind you when you leave the house or even just move from room to room, some of the warm air goes out with you. Heat is lost even when the door is closed as there may be gaps around it.

That's why it's time to check all entrances for unwanted holes before the onset of winter, as well as prepare something that will retain heat during the day or night. It can be just an ordinary blanket or an old sweater rolled into a roller. Place it under the door and it will prevent the heated air from escaping as quickly.

Check the windows

The second major heat loophole is windows. Even double-glazed windows lose their density over time and begin to let warm air in. What can we say about wooden frames? So check how tightly your windows close in advance. Seal all the gaps with sealant, glue the frame, or call in specialists to adjust the glass unit and replace the seals if necessary. You can also stick a special thermal film on the windows. It completely transmits light, but at the same time retains heat inside the room.

Use bubble wrap

Cheap bubble wrap with air bubbles has, among other things, outstanding thermal insulation properties. It can keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. It can be used to cover gaps and can be glued to windows.

Use sunlight

In sunny weather, especially if your windows face south, be sure to open the curtains. Sunlight still heats objects even on the shortest days and in the coldest weather. This way, you can increase the temperature in the room for free. And then you just need to keep this heat at night.
