Ordinary table salt is an effective ingredient that will preserve the brightness of colors. Salt has long been added to detergents for washing. But is it possible to use this life hack when washing clothes in a washing machine? Experts say yes, but it should be done correctly and carefully.

First method

Add 1 tablespoon of salt to one wash cycle. Salt is not only suitable for colored clothes but for white clothes as they will not turn gray or yellow.

Second method

To remove old or difficult stains, such as wine or blood, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of salt on top of the stain. Put the dirty item in a container, fill it with cold water and wait at least 30 minutes. Then wash it in the usual way in a washing machine.

Third method

You can also use salt as a fabric softener to keep your clothes soft. Salt can reduce the level of water hardness and prevent limescale deposits. During the rinse cycle, add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to the washing machine at the same time as the detergent. The laundry will be pleasant to the touch.

Warning

Washing with salt has some caveats. Salt may not be able to cope with grease and oil stains. In this case, you should use stronger detergents.
