How to get rid of ants on peonies: simple ways to save the bush
Peonies attract not only people who love to admire them with their lush color. It is also one of the favorite plants of ants. At the same time, the insects cause significant damage to the flowering shrubs - they spoil the root system and breed aphids on the greenery, which damage the leaves and suck the juice from the stems.
Therefore OBOZREVATEL asked how you can get rid of ants on peonies. There are several reliable ways for which you will not need to use pesticides - quite simple means are enough.
Laurel leaf
An infusion of this spice is good for repelling ants. To prepare it, take 30 grams of dry leaf and pour 2 liters of boiling water for 3-3.5 hours. The resulting liquid is strained, diluted with another 2 liters of clean water and poured into a sprayer. Laurel leaf spraying should be repeated every 5 days.
Baking soda, ash and caustic lime
A mixture of these three dry remedies will help get rid of ants in the soil. It is in the ground under the bush that they settle and begin to use the entire peony plant as their home, harming it. To repel ants, you need to take dry ash, baking soda and carbonated lime in a 1:1:1 ratio and mix thoroughly. This powder is poured over the thoroughly loosened soil around each peony.
Boric acid
You can get rid of ants by using a tasty bait with boric acid. A teaspoon of acid should be stirred in 0.5 cup of warm water and 5 tablespoons of jam should be added to the solution. You can also stir the acid solution into balls of mashed potatoes or egg yolk. Such a bait is placed near peony bushes or anthill passages - ants will come for the treat themselves, but it will not do them any good. Soon the insects will disappear. It is important to place the bait so that pets or children cannot reach it.
