How to clean air conditioner filters

To avoid accidents, unplug the device: this is the basis of any kind of maintenance.

Next, remove the filters. They are usually located on the front of the air conditioner behind the grille. Open the grille and carefully remove the filter so as not to damage it.

After removing the filter, you need to check: if it is damaged, it is better to replace it rather than clean.

Now proceed to the cleaning stage:

1. If the filter is made of a reusable material (such as foam), you can wash it with water and mild detergent. Be sure to rinse it well after that.
2. Paper or fiber filters are better cleaned with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and dirt. These materials will deteriorate quickly when wet.

The filter must be completely dry before it can be reinstalled. Note that the drying step may take several hours. When installing, make sure that the filter fits snugly and the grille is well closed.
