How often you should wash a bra: the expert named a rule for everyone
Laundry is an area in which everything is studied to the smallest detail, there are a lot of tricks and life hacks, and not a single item is complete without a label with tips on how to care for it. Perhaps the only wardrobe item that is not so clear is the bra.
It belongs to underwear, but it doesn't need to be replaced daily. How often should it be washed? Can I throw it in the machine or is it better to wash it by hand? If in the machine, can it be washed with other things or is it better to load it separately? All the main answers were given to Who What Wear by Deborah Ramos, Development Manager of the famous La Perla brand.
How often do you need to wash
According to Ramos, due to the fact that the bra is in direct contact with the body, it needs to be washed after every second wear. The expert advises to have three or four comfortable bras for every day, so you won't be left without a clean thing.
Choose hand washing
Branded bras are often made using delicate materials and traditional technologies, so they are more suitable for gentle handwashing. However, Ramos also advises choosing this method because it will help your lingerie keep its shape longer.
Control the temperature
If you wash your bra at a temperature that is too low, it will not clean properly, and if it is too high, it will quickly become damaged. Warm water is the best solution. And when washing by hand, it will be easiest to control the temperature, just make sure it is pleasant for the skin.
If you choose to machine wash
Before loading bras into the drum, Ramos recommends making sure that all the clasps are fastened and the hooks are engaged. This way, they won't damage themselves and won't damage the fabric, including on other things. It is even better to wash such clothes in a separate laundry bag.
