Life hacks for washing

It would seem that washing is a fairly straightforward process: just fill the drum, add detergent, select the appropriate mode, and wait for the machine to do its job. However, in addition to choosing the right temperature, there are some other nuances to consider. First of all, we are talking about the amount of powder in the container.

Experts warn that manufacturers of household detergents are interested in increasing sales, so the data on the recommended volume may be exaggerated. How much powder should be poured into the machine for one wash and what is the danger of the excessive amounts is reported by OBOZ.UA.

Excessive amounts of powder: what is the danger

Excessive amounts of powder are harmful to both fabrics and the washing machine. During the washing process, the container will not be completely cleaned, which will eventually lead to rust or even serious damage.

An unpleasant odor will persist in the machine, and white stains will appear on the clothes. In addition, excessive powder damages the fibers.

Experts advise paying attention to the composition of the powder. You should check whether the product is intended for use in an automatic washing machine. Manual laundry detergents contain compounds that cause increased foaming, and if you put them in the washing machine, excessive foam can damage the appliance and settle deep into the fibers of the fabrics.

In addition, make sure that the detergent does not contain chlorine or solvents as aggressive chemicals can damage rubber parts.

The amount of powder depends on the following factors:

  • the level of soiling and the presence of serious stains;
  • weight and number of clothes;
  • water quality/hardness level;
  • water consumption per wash cycle;
  • type of fabric and washing mode.

The ideal formula for the ratio of powder per wash cycle is as follows: take 1 tbsp of powder (25 g) per 1 kg of laundry.

For example, let's take a standard 5 kg washing machine with a 4 kg load (remember that clothes get heavier when washed). For normal washing, 100 g of powder will be enough. For old and difficult stains, take 200-225 g of powder or 100 g of powder and a stain remover.
