How much does a dog, a duck, and a rabbit weigh: a mathematical puzzle that will make your brain boil

Puzzles are not only exciting but also beneficial leisure activities. These tasks will help you distract from everyday worries, and puzzles will be a fun activity for adults and children alike. Numerous studies have shown that regular brain training improves cognitive skills and can reduce the risk of dementia in the long run.

So, we invite math enthusiasts to determine the total weight of a dog, a duck, and a rabbit based on a few hints: given that the weight of the rabbit and duck is 10 kg, the weight of the dog and rabbit is 20 kg, and the weight of the dog and duck is 24 kg, how much do the dog, rabbit, and duck weigh together?

This is a really difficult task that will leave many people stumped. You'll have to do some calculations to find the right answer. Surveys have shown that the smartest people can solve the equation in 20 seconds.

The correct answer is

Let the duck be "D".

The dog is "S".

The rabbit is "K".

From the picture above, we can write the equations

K + D = 10 kg.... equation (1)

K + S = 20 kg.... equation (2)

S + D = 24 kg...equation (3)

Let's rearrange the equations

equation (1): D = 10 kg - K

equation (2): S = 20 kg - K

Substitute the values of D and S into equation (3)

S + D = 24 kg

(20 kg - K) + (10 kg - K) = 24 kg

30 kg - 2K = 24 kg

2K = 6 kg

K = 3 kg

Substituting the value of K into equations (1) and (2), we obtain

equation (1)

3 + D = 10 kg

D = 7 kg

equation (2)

3 + S = 20 kg

S = 17 kg.

Add the values: S + D + K = 17 kg + 7 kg + 3 kg = 27 kg.

Therefore, the correct total weight of the dog, duck, and rabbit together is 27 kg.
