Historical enemies in 'Barbie' movie: a hidden reference wowed viewers
Viewers of the acclaimed movie "Barbie" found an inconspicuous but important reference to the historical enemies of the famous doll. Bratz, a competitor of the Mattel company, unexpectedly appeared in the movie from Greta Gerwig with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Even heroines, very reminiscent of the four iconic toys, were skeptical of the guest from the "pink" world. The reference was noticed by one of the TikTok users, who told subscribers about it (to see the photo, scroll to the end of the page).
Within 24 hours, the video has garnered almost 20 million views and thousands of comments from moviegoers who didn't notice it while watching.
There was a scene where Margot Robbie tried to impress four teenage girls sitting at a table in a pink cowboy costume. However, they stated that they were not thrilled with the Barbie look in a rude manner.
Careful viewers noticed that the four secondary characters resembled a set of Bratz dolls: Yasmin, Chloe, Jade and Sasha. Originally, each doll had a different personality, which was embodied by the actresses. Greta Gerwig even gave them the same names.
Toys that competed with Barbie and Ken were released in 2001.
