Germany speaks out against the IOC

Germany is ready to refuse to issue visas to Russian athletes to participate in competitions in the country. In this way, Ukraine's allies intend to respond to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the admission of athletes from Russia.

This was stated by German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, according to the Berliner Morgenpost website. She called the IOC's decision shameful, recalling that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin uses sports competitions for his own propaganda.

"Countries hosting major sporting events are not powerless. We can control whether Russians can actually participate by issuing visas. If we organise international competitions in Germany, we can act accordingly. To offer the warmonger Putin a stage for propaganda is to betray all the values of sport. The IOC must prevent this disastrous signal of a possible boycott of Ukraine. It is completely unacceptable for Ukrainian athletes to meet athletes who compete for a country that is killing so many Ukrainian civilians," Faeser said.

Earlier in the German Foreign Ministry called a slap in the face to all Ukrainians the IOC recommendations to allow Russian athletes to international tournaments.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) Vladislav Tretyak said that the IOC's requirements for the admission of the Russian Federation "cannot be understood by a normal person.
