"Finally at home": 15 Ukrainian children who had been in occupation returned to Ukraine. Photo.
We managed to return 15 Ukrainian children to Ukraine with their mothers and legal representatives. All of them are from the cities of Kharkiv and Kherson regions occupied by Russia at the beginning of the war.
This was announced by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. "Finally at home! We managed to return 15 Ukrainian children to Ukraine together with their mothers and legal representatives!" - he said in a statement.
Lubinets stressed that despite all the challenges, the government continues to work to ensure that Ukrainians can see their families and be on their land.
In total, as of March 21, according to the National Information Bureau, 308 children have already returned to the territory of Ukraine.
As a reminder, on March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russian Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. Both are suspected of organising and committing a serious war crime: the abduction and deportation of Ukrainians, including minors, to the territory of the Russian Federation.
For more than a year of full-scale aggression, at least 16,000 children have been deported from Ukraine with the assistance of the Russian authorities and under schemes organised by them. They are subjected to extensive brainwashing and transferred for illegal "adoption" to dozens of regions of the Russian Federation. At the same time, children who have relatives and even parents in Ukraine are being given new names so that they cannot be found.
Over the course of the full-scale war, Ukraine has managed to secure the return home of just over 300 children abducted by Russia.
The ICC warrant means that Putin, as an official suspect in an international crime, can be detained in any of the more than 100 countries that have ratified the Rome Statute.
