Famous Italian volleyball player Giulia Ituma, with Nigerian roots, died after falling out of a hotel window in Istanbul, where she was staying with her team Novari after the Champions League semi-final game against local side Ezzazibashi. The match ended in a 3-0 victory for the Turks.
The club expressed "deep pain over Ituma's untimely death" and in a statement expressed condolences to her family. The team noted that the Turkish police are investigating and officials will remain "respectfully silent" on the matter.

Later, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet published CCTV footage showing the last lifetime footage of the 18-year-old volleyball player. It is clear that the athlete is very worried about the defeat.
Media reports suggest that Ituma may have committed suicide by jumping out of her room on the sixth floor of the hotel.
