"Dangerous repeat offender": Navalny to be transferred to a maximum security colony
The First Court of Appeal in Moscow has upheld the sentence against politician Alexei Navalny and the technical director of the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel Daniel Holodny. The defense of the accused intends to appeal the verdict in cassation.
This was reported by the Russian media. According to it, Navalny is to be transferred to a strict regime colony.
The politician's lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, said that the text of the verdict was slightly changed. Now Navalny is listed there not as a "particularly dangerous recidivist" but as a "dangerous repeat offender". She also noted that this change does not affect anything.
The politician's defense intends to appeal the verdict in cassation.
"On August 4, the Moscow City Court sentenced Navalny to 19 years in a special regime colony in the 'extremist case' and a 500,000 ruble fine at an offsite meeting in the Penal Colony No. 6 in the Vladimir Region. Holodny to spend eight years in a general regime colony," the sources said.
Navalny was found guilty of calling for extremism, creating an NGO that infringes on the rights of citizens, financing extremism, creating an extremist community, involving minors in dangerous acts and rehabilitating Nazism.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, a Russian court sentenced Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny to 19 years in a special regime colony under six articles on "extremism." The decision was made by the Moscow City Court of the terrorist country of Russia at an offsite meeting in the colony IR-6 in the Vladimir region.
