The small village of Casey in Scotland is known for its stunning sandy beaches and spectacular views. This place is ideal for fishing, which is where Stoke-on-Trent residents Gregg Jenkinson and his son Tyler came to go.

However, the family made a spooky discovery on the quiet coast: the father and son saw a strange orange creature. The details were reported by Lad Bible.

A strange orange creature washed up on the east coast of Caithness County, and scientists are still debating its origin.

"We were there on vacation, going to John O'Groats, and exploring the harbors along the way. We came across this beach by accident. My son was the first to see the creature: he thought it was an octopus from a distance," Jenkinson said.

However, as they were approaching the "octopus," the eyewitnesses realized that the sea creature was actually something more mysterious.

As they got closer, the father and son saw that the creature looked more like some kind of unknown fish.

"We touched it with a stick... I was intrigued because this kind of creature has never been seen in Stoke-on-Trent before," the eyewitness added.

The creature was probably washed up on the rocky beach after a storm. Jenkinson decided to film it and posted it on his Facebook page. Users were stunned and immediately began to speculate, but no one could say for sure what kind of fish it was (or if it was a fish at all).

Experts from the UK's Cetacean Science Investigation Program (CSIP) were also unable to identify the amphibian.

Project head Rob Deaville said, "To me, it looks like the decomposed remains of a small cetacean. I can see a folded dorsal fin and the upper jaw of the skull protruding from the head in front. As for the species, it's hard to say."

CSIP Stranding Coordinator Nick Davison was equally confused and added that he needed "better images" to further classify the marine creature. However, he agreed with his colleague that it was probably a small cetacean.
