The Football Association of England (FA) has launched an investigation into Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk of Chelsea, theathletic.com reports. The FA is examining a video in which Mykhailo sings the song "Freestyle" by American rap artist Lil Baby.

The song mentions the word "n*gger" 16 times. Mudryk, 22, posted the video on Tik Tok in July 2022.

This is what the original looks like.

The FA will now decide whether Mudryk should be punished for the video, which has been viewed over 214,000 times. Mudryk's representatives have already apologised and the video has been removed.

"Mykhailo deeply regrets the offence caused," Mudryk's representative said in a statement.

The FA has previously punished EPL players for posts on social media.

Middlesbrough's Mark Bola was punished earlier this year for a tweet he posted when he was just 14 years old. 10 years later, Bola received a warning and was required to attend an educational course for the homophobic post.

A similar investigation was launched in 2021 when it was discovered that Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United) had used offensive racist language in a previous tweet. Bowen also received a warning and underwent a training course for using the word "n*gger" for a tweet when he was just 15 years old.

In 2016, Andre Gray was banned for four matches for making homophobic comments on social media in 2012. The then Burnley forward was fined £25,000. He was ordered to attend an FA education course.
