Canadian Jasmine Wong Denike moved to the UK in 2021. To get to know the city better, she decided to make friends through dating apps. So, she went on as many as 100 different dates in London, and this experience was a "huge success" for her.
She planned to live alone in the capital, but nevertheless went on dates to learn more about the city's food, customs, and people. After her hundredth date, she decided to tell Metro about the five main lessons she learned.
1. Try something new together
It's helpful to be on equal footing with someone when no one knows how to do a new activity. This could be, for example, playing golf or darts, or even going to an unfamiliar restaurant. The bonus, Jasmine says, is that you get to see how that person copes with the new environment.
2. Trust your intuition
"If you sometimes don't like a person's behavior, but you try to ignore it, you should stop communicating," the woman advises. After all, your instincts are trying to tell you that this person will probably not bring you happiness in the long run.
3. "Double touch"
If you're not absolutely sure how you feel after the first date, Jasmine recommends going on another one with that person to "double-touch" and understand your feelings.
4. Rejection is good
"If someone says you're not their person, they're saving your precious minutes," says the Canadian. You shouldn't spend time with someone who has to be convinced of their feelings and desires.
5. Dating should be fun
Dating can be very exhausting, especially for an introvert, so it's important to take breaks. Jasmine says that she took breaks several times during the year because she either needed to wean herself off someone she had feelings for or because she wanted to spend more time with friends.
To find a date, Jasmine used dating apps, but she says a few men also wrote on Direct and TikTok, and "one suitor even asked her out through her work email."
In 2023, everything changed, so the woman met a man who, in her words, became "really important." Jasmine does not reveal his identity. "It's handcuff season, and your girlfriend is handcuffed," she proclaimed in one of the videos.
