In the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, the flowering period of a rare Red Data Book of Ukraine plant that smells like a violet has started. The spring white flower, which is exactly what it is, is found in the Kyiv region only in household plots as an ornamental plant.

The press service of the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve informed about it. It is even depicted on the coats of arms of several cities.

"Such white-flowered ephemerals can be seen in the exclusion zone in March. The early spring ephemerides spring snowflake is a rare Red Data Book species of the Ukrainian flora. In the Kyiv region, it is found only in household plots as an ornamental plant. It is obvious when these wide-bell-shaped flowers were planted at Chornobyl," the press service said.

The Reserve added that thanks to its powerful root system, the spring snowdrop has grown and, as soon as it gets warmer, decorate nature with white bells and a pleasant violet scent.

It should be added that the decorative early-spring ephemerals leucojum vernum (spring snowflake) is a rare species of Ukrainian flora. It is depicted on the coat of arms of the village of Verkhnii Verbizh, Kolomyia district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, as well as on the coat of arms of the towns of Ettenstatt (Bavaria, Germany) and Etzersdorf-Rollsdorf (Styria, Austria).

As OBOZREVATEL reported, in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, in addition to domestic and wild animals, cats and dogs live near the self-settlers. Some of them have become feral, but still, continue to stay close to people.
