"Why not in the trench?" Who is "Olya UA", who is spreading "betrayal", and how the image of a Ukrainian woman in Poland became a meme

Ukrainians have created a new meme

Increasingly, a newly created meme-parody of Ukrainians is being seen on social media, who are spreading "treason" in comments, teaching fellow citizens from abroad how to live, and criticizing others. This collective image was named "Olya UA, " and less often "Oksana or Olenka UA."

The meme character was created based on the comments of a real person with the corresponding nickname and flags of Poland and Ukraine. Videos with jokes and songs on this topic collect hundreds of thousands of views, and parody accounts that post outrageous comments can often be seen under popular videos on TikTok.

For the most part, Olya`s UA vocabulary consists of the same questions: "Why not in the trench? Why not at the front? Why aren't you demining the fields? Why not in the state?"

In other cases, the meme character expresses his indignation with words like "disgust, betrayal, evader, not in time" and others.

It is difficult to determine when exactly the meme originated, but netizens said that a real person left similar comments under one of the videos where they were seen by jokers.

Since then, thousands of people have started mocking fellow citizens who fiercely defend the country in the comments. However, it should be noted that we are not talking about those Ukrainians who stayed at home, support the Armed Forces and consciously refused to consume Russian content and language. Trolling concerns those users whose support for the country ends with demands and comments on social media.

The authors of such videos joke that Olya UA's husband is hiding from mobilization, while she calls others to the trench. "The question is not relevant" or "It's not time," the Ukrainian meme replies.

Videos on this topic collect hundreds of thousands of views, tens of thousands of comments and many likes, and recently a track was dedicated to the meme. The trend has even been picked up by the favorite Ukrainian dog Patron.
