Rowan Atkinson, a 68-year-old British actor, had several dozen roles in his life, but became a hostage to only one - Mr. Bean from the eponymous TV series. Comically, the actor with one of the highest IQs in the entire acting community, 178, became a hostage to the silly image by which he is still remembered today.
Almost all of the films Atkinson played in were comedies, the lion's share of whose success depended solely on the characteristic clumsy behavior and facial expressions of the protagonist. Many moviegoers might think that the star hasn't had any roles for a long time, and that his successful career ended in the 00s. This is true, but only partially. In fact, after the cult series, the actor had many more offers and appeared mostly in British comedies, which were not that popular.

Stuttering
An important factor in why the actor has become less talked about is his private lifestyle. Atkinson hardly ever gives interviews, doesn't attend social events, and doesn't give comments to the media.
One of the reasons is his stutter. Few people know, but in his off-screen life, the British actor has trouble pronouncing the letter B and has long been self-conscious about it. Atkinson needs a few minutes to prepare before pronouncing a word that begins with his hated letter.

But when it comes to acting in front of the camera, the speech impediment disappears, and so only those who were interested in his biography know about Mr. Bean's stutter.

Despite his venerable age and associations with the 00s hero, Atkinson has no plans to end his career. Moreover, new roles have begun to appear in his life that are no longer so superficial. The latest is a priest in the new film Willy Wonka, which has every chance of becoming a success.

In 2022, Netflix released the series Man vs. the Bee, written and produced by Atkinson, the lead actor.
Nothing has changed dramatically in the actor's appearance. Apart from gray hair and noticeable wrinkles from active facial expressions, his face remained as recognizable as ever.
