What we know about the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024

The winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, 12-year-old Artem Kotenko, comes from the long-suffering town of Okhtyrka, Sumy region. He performed his song "Home" about how Russians are taking away Ukrainians' homes and hometowns, and won the show. The vocalist flatly refused to leave the frontline town of Okhtyrka.

Artem Kotenko started his life with music at the age of 3, and at 5 he began to study vocals professionally. He has already won the Black Sea Games in 2021. This is not the young man's first attempt to conquer Eurovision: in 2023, he was included in the longlist of the National Selection.

His dream is to become famous all over the world and show his fans what talent, as he says, lives in Ukraine.

The jury, which included singer ROXOLANA, TVORCHI sound producer Andrii Hutsuliak, and Vitalii Drozdov, a member of the jury of the National Selection for Eurovision 2020, gave the boy 5 points, and the audience gave him 6 points. A total of 11 points put Artem Kotenko on top of the standings along with his rival Zlata Ivaniv, who performed the song "Necklace." However, according to the results of the audience vote, it was the young man who won.

What is known about Junior Eurovision 2024

It is known that according to the rules of the show, 15 children participating in the longlist had to take part in a summer "star school" at the Ukrainian Radio Recording House. There, they could improve their vocal, acting, and choreography skills. As a result of the exams and competitions, only 6 participants made it to the finals.

After the results were announced, singer Svitlana Tarabarova and producer Yevhen Triplov (both prepared original songs) and choreographer Yevhen Kot (responsible for stage performances) prepared the performances.
