Every year, Forbes magazine publishes a ranking of the world's richest people, including both women and men with the largest fortunes. In 2024, the list included 369 billionaires, and they chose different industries for their successful careers: from mining and gambling to beauty and technology.

The wealth of the top ten billionaires has grown tremendously since 2023, and most of these women are over 60 years old. This became known from the Forbes website.

1. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers ($99.5 billion)

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers is currently the richest woman in the world. The granddaughter of the founder of the L'Oreal beauty company took 15th place in the ranking of all billionaires. The 70-year-old Frenchwoman and her family own more than a third of the world-famous brand. Since 1997, she has been a member of L'Oreal's board of directors and remains the head of the family holding company.

Bettencourt Meyers is also fond of culture: she has already written two books - about Greek gods and the Bible - and plays the piano.

2. Alice Walton ($72.3 billion)

Alice Walton is the only daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Despite the significant inheritance from her father, the woman focused on the development of culture. She is known for opening the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in her hometown of Bentonville, USA. In 2022, the Institute for Holistic Health in the same city was renamed in her honor.

3. Julia Koch ($64.3 billion)

Julia Koch and her three children inherited a 42% stake in Koch Industries from her husband David after his death. In particular, the woman is a philanthropist and was distinguished by a charitable gift of $75 million to finance the Julia Koch Family Outpatient Care Center.

4. Jacqueline Mars ($38.5 billion)

Jacqueline Mars is the granddaughter of Franklin Clarence Mars, the founder of Mars, and currently owns about a third of the company, having worked there for about 20 years. The company produces candy, food, and pet care products.

5. MacKenzie Scott ($36.5 billion)

The fortune of the ex-wife of one of the world's richest men, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, has increased dramatically by $11.2 billion compared to last year. After the divorce in 2019, MacKenzie Scott received a 4% stake in the company. At the time, she promised to donate a significant portion of her fortune to charity. As of 2024, the woman has already donated $17.3 billion to more than 2,300 organizations.

6. Savitri Jindal ($33.5 billion)

Savitri Jindal is India's richest woman working in the metals industry. The woman runs the Jindal Group, which specializes in electricity and steel, and has assets in mining, electricity, gas, and port facilities. Savitri Jindal is also involved in political activities.

7. Rafaela Aponte-Diamant ($33.1 billion)

Rafaela Aponte-Diamant and her husband Gianluigi are the main shareholders of the world's largest shipping company MSC. Their career began with the purchase of their first cargo ship in 1970, and by 1979 their number had grown to 17.

8. Miriam Adelson ($32 billion)
