"We will all fight anyway": actor and soldier Hennadii Popenko talks about draft evaders and suggests when the war will end

Hennadii Popenko talks about draft evaders and suggests when the war will end

Famous Ukrainian actor and TV presenter Hennadii Popenko is currently serving in the "Culture Troops" unit in the 59th Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Zaporizhzhia sector, where he travels directly along the contact line. He believes that sooner or later all those liable for military service in Ukraine will come to the defense of their homeland as he believes the war with Russia could last for years or even decades.

The star reminded us that this struggle began in the 13th century and went through various phases, including "reconciliation," but it is still ongoing. Popenko shared his thoughts in an interview for TSN's YouTube project Naodynitsi (Alone).

"Should we be prepared for the fact that this will not end tomorrow? Yes. In a year? Yes. In 10 years? Yes. We have been at war with Moscow since 1250 when they first burned Kyiv. And from that moment on, there was never a time when we were fraternal peoples, when they didn't interfere with us. We were always at war. It's just that sometimes we could fight back, like during the Battle of Konotop or now during the Russian-Ukrainian war. Or we couldn't, as it was in the 1930s when we died of hunger because of the d*mn Russians. We have been at war for so long that you can't even imagine. Now it has finally become visible. Some people knew it but ignored because it was convenient. Someone forgot. This is a mixed hybrid war. Finally, everything has become clear to everyone," the military man said.

As for the draft evaders, Hennadii is convinced that "all of us will be fighting anyway". That is why, according to the celebrity, it is necessary to adopt a "normal" law on mobilization.

The actor commented, "I think everyone understands everything perfectly well. Everyone's time will come. We will all have to fight. We need to replace the guys at the front. They are very tired. Some have been standing in the same place for two years. It's not because they want to stay there. Everyone just sees that there is no other option. And there must be another option. There will be changes. And there is no need to get caught up in emotions. Everything should be done in a legal way. We need to adopt a normal law on mobilization."

As previously reported, musician Andrii Khlyvniuk, who is in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also spoke about mobilization in Ukraine and the fatigue of the military at the front. The leader of Boombox thinks that those liable for military service should not wait for a call-up but should go to war as volunteers.
