"Was supposed to step onto the dance floor in a Soviet uniform." A participant of "Dancing with the Stars" revealed details of the high-profile conflict on the show for the first time

Famous Ukrainian actor Mykhailo Kukuyuk, who once participated in the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars, recalled the conflicts that arose on the project. The actor and dancer Liza Druzhynina competed for the title of the best in the fall of 2019.

In a conversation with OBOZ.UA, Mykhailo Kukuyuk recalled an incident that impressed him on the set. The organizers offered the contestant to dance another dance in the uniform of a Soviet soldier.

"In general, we, the contestants, became friends in the project; I didn't walk to rehearsals, I ran. But I don't remember that my dance with my partner was ever praised by the jury," says the actor. "In addition, conflicts arose from time to time. For example, I was once told that I had to go out on the dance floor in my uniform to the song 'Dark Night'. The broadcast was scheduled for the first day of September. I said: 'Have you forgotten what happened on this day in 1939?' And they began to press the point that 'our grandfathers fought.' I said: 'My grandfather reached Berlin, but what's the point?"

To exit the project, the actor even violated the show's rules and refused to perform the so-called "dance for life" on live TV. Kukuyuk and his partner, Liza Druzhynina, left the show amidst a scandal. However, according to Mykhailo, this did not affect his relationship with the 1+1 TV channel, the creator of Dancing with the Stars: "Our relationship is like margarine: neither good nor bad. They aired movies with my participation - "Servant of the People" and the same "Swingers" that are often shown on New Year's Eve."

In the movie Swingers, Mykhailo Kukuyuk played a wealthy businessman Igor paired with singer Olia Poliakova. The artist publicly supported her colleague on the show Dancing with the Stars, urging her audience on social media to vote for him.

After Mykhailo Kukuyuk and Yelyzaveta Druzhynina left the project, users wrote a lot in social media comments about the couple being unfairly judged. According to the couple's supporters, they were especially prejudiced by Kateryna Kukhar and Vlad Yama.
