Ukrainian woman who lost her eye in a Russian missile strike is on the cover of Playboy
Surgeon, model and TV presenter Iryna Bilotserkivets, who was wounded in a shelling in Kyiv region and lost her eye, became the heroine of the first print issue of Playboy during the full-scale war. The beautiful woman appeared for the cover and gave an interview.
In a conversation with journalists, she told how she survived the fateful shelling. This is stated on the official website of the publication (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page).
On 26 February 2022, Iryna and her children came under fire from the Russian occupiers. The model's husband is an assistant to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, but she is not sure that the Russians made a deliberate attempt. Doctors fought for her life in Berlin.
The Ukrainian woman underwent several months of treatment and reconstructive surgery. She has become a symbol of resilience and the heroine of the Women Stay Strong issue.
"I was missing an eye, had tubes sticking out everywhere, and my hair was shaved after surgery. There were stitches, scars, wounds everywhere. I was a Frankenstein's monster. My jaw broke like a twig. I don't have a beautiful face anymore, but the rest of my body is beautiful," said the model, who now works with the Ukrainian Cultural Forces, an association of artists and musicians who organise events to boost the morale of troops on the frontline.
The magazines of the first printed edition were not put on the shelves of shops. They were sent to hospitals, clinics and rear command posts, the website says. The historic issue was called a "media projectile of goodness and beauty".
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, Playboy has been one of the most popular and respected magazines in the world for many decades, and therefore it can be safely called a cult. Find out how the stars of the covers have changed here.
