The cinematic world suffered two losses at once: on New Year's Eve, it became known that Tom Wilkinson, the star of The Lone Ranger, and Richard Romanus, an actor from the cult series The Sopranos, had died. The former died on December 30 at the age of 75, and the latter passed away on December 26 at the age of 81, but the media learned about it only four days later.

Wilkinson made his film debut as a leading man in 1986, appearing in the miniseries First Among Equals. Interestingly, the actor met his wife, also an actress, Diana Hardcastle, on the set. Together, the couple raised two daughters.
The filmmaker has over 130 projects in his filmography. In addition to The Lone Ranger, his selection also includes The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Full Monty, Shakespeare in Love, and others.
In 1997, Wilkinson was awarded a BAFTA for his role in The Full Monty, as well as a Golden Globe for his performance in the miniseries John Adams. The actor has also been nominated for an Oscar twice: in 2001 for In the Bedroom, and in 2007 for Michael Clayton.
In the cult TV series The Sopranos, Romanus embodied the image of Richard La Penna on the screen. He appeared in four episodes from 1999 to 2002.
In addition, viewers may remember the actor from his role in the legendary Martin Scorsese's film Mean Streets (1973) and taxi driver Harry Canyon in Heavy Metal (1981).
In 2011, Richard Romanus tried his hand at writing. He devoted the last years of his life to writing. His debut book was a memoir called ACT III. He also published the books Chrysalis and Matoula's Echo.
