"They brought a suitcase of money": Anzhelika Rudnytska told how Russians tried to buy a place in Territory A and what they offered in return
Ukrainian singer and head of Territory A, Anzhelika Rudnytska, was impressed by how Russians wanted to flood the domestic music market with their product. She shared that Russian artists openly tried to buy a place in the charts by offering large sums of money.
The celebrity spoke about this in an interview on the YouTube channel "That Day When." The singer noted that at that time, an imposed opinion began to appear in our information space that all Russian content was of high quality, while Ukrainian-language content was not.
"We were constantly approached by Russian labels, producers, and artists who said not just: 'Show my video,' but they have a different approach. They bring a suitcase of money with them and say: "Look, you will get enough money every month. And besides money, you need enough quality material," the singer recalled.
According to Anzhelika Rudnytska, the cultural figures of the aggressor country at the time assured her that they would fill the airwaves with completely different music: for the older generation, for women, for young people, hip-hop, and so on. They tried to sell their product in different ways.
"Tell us what you are more interested in, we can create a special project for you. They already had a system in place. That is, when our guys were fighting with each other about who was cooler and on which channel it was shown more, there was already a whole system," says the head of Territory A.
The singer admitted that after repeatedly rejecting Russians, she began to notice their videos on other channels. She realized that not everyone turned down big money.
"At that time, there was an idea that everything in Russian was of high quality, and everything in Ukrainian was of low quality. A TV presenter and producer of the time said: 'Why do you work with these Ukrainian artists, it's a village,'" the singer said.
