There is no such thing as a "death spot"! How Ukraine broke the main Eurovision stereotype and became the most loyal fan of Switzerland

How Ukraine broke the main stereotype of Eurovision

While Euro fans, and bookmakers, were predicting Ukraine's failure at Eurovision 2024 due to the "death spot" - the name of the 2nd highest performance in the final - singers Jerry Heil and alyona alyona proved that it was just a myth by taking the 3rd position. In particular, the winner of this year's contest Nemo from Switzerland received incredible support from our country and a lot of points.

It was Ukraine that "broke the record" and gave him 12 points from both the jury and the audience. Moreover, the contestants had previously boasted that they had "stolen" Nemo for a joint breakfast. The footage posted online shows how the contestants became good friends.

In particular, Jerry Heil and alyona alyona were very concerned about the number 2 performance, because no country with this number has ever taken higher than 16th place in the competition, let alone won the show. Because of this, the girls launched a PR campaign during the voting in the final to encourage foreign fans to vote for Ukrainians. And it was really successful, as the Ukrainians received as many as 307 points in the audience vote and took 3rd place in Eurovision 2024.

"We were at the "death spot"! Statistically, everyone who was on the air as the 2nd number took places from 20 and above! We came in 3rd place! Do you realize what we have done together?" the singers wrote on Instagram.

It is worth noting that the team reminded European viewers that there is still a war going on in Ukraine by wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Free Azovstal Defenders" during the voting.

"And at the same time, once again, you have powerfully drawn attention to Ukraine, remembered the prisoners of Azov and impressed with the modern sound of Ukrainian music and the professionalism and creativity of the team! We bow low to all of you, Virgins and Men! We have come this far together!" the stars continued.

Interestingly, Israel, which has an active military conflict with Palestine, did not receive a single point from the viewers from Ukraine and Croatia. However, the viewers from the winning country were generous and gave it all 12 points, while the jury did not even pay attention. Ukraine received a total of 8 points from Switzerland: 6 from the audience and 2 from the jury.

But despite the scores, the participants from the two countries, Jerry Heil and alyona alyona from Ukraine and the winner Nemo, became good friends. The singer even performed the contest song "Teresa & Maria" in a duet with the Ukrainians and showed them his own remix, for which the rapper shouted out to Nemo: "Ukrainian passport!"

In the morning, after the announcement of the winner of Eurovision 2024, MUZVAR published a photo of the artists having a nice conversation over breakfast while tasting Ukrainian sweets. "Nothing out of the ordinary: just the Eurovision winner and his bronze medalists having breakfast with Evening Kyiv candies and Roshen bars," the publication captioned the photo.
