"The war scattered us." Ostap Stupka tells how the fate of his three adult children turned out

Famous actor Ostap Stupka, the son of the legendary Ukrainian actor, is the father of three grown children. While there is a lot of information about his eldest son Dmytro online, it is difficult to find anything about the lives of his younger children, his daughter Ustyna and son Bohdan.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Ostap Stupka spoke about the present-day life of his descendants. According to the actor, his daughter is a graduate of a Polish university, and his younger son, having graduated from a Kyiv school, has not yet gone on to study.

"Ustyna is 24 years old. She studied in Poland and graduated from the University of Lodz, Department of International Cultural Studies. She returned to Kyiv," Ostap Stupka says about his younger children, who were born in a marriage with Iryna Batko-Stupka, the director of the Kyiv Theater "Suzirya." "Is she going to get married? You know, somehow she has enough sense. Bohdan is 17 years old, he graduated from high school, and now he is thinking about his future. He gravitates towards several areas, all of which are related to creativity."

Stupka says he did not insist that his children continue the famous acting dynasty: "I have always been a supporter of the idea that children should choose what they want from life. And it's not in my nature to tell them where to go. When I graduated from high school, there was a fashion in Lviv – everyone went to medical school. No matter who you asked, everyone went there. To become a dentist. And there were also engineers. But children have to choose for themselves. You can't force them: "Quickly become an actress! Go ahead and act!"

As you know, the actor's eldest son, Dmytro Stupka, chose the profession of his father and grandfather. He was born when his parents were 18 years old – they studied at a theater university together. Bohdan Stupka and his wife Larysa took care of him. The boy lived with them for many years. After graduating from the theater university, he worked at the Franko Theater in Kyiv and acted in films. In the fall of 2021, the actor emigrated to the United States with his wife, blogger Polina Lohunova, and daughter Bohdana.

As Dmytro Stupka told OBOZ.UA in an interview, he flew to Ukraine the day before the full-scale invasion. At the time, Stupka was already in the process of divorcing his wife Polina: "I bought a ticket home for February 23, 2022. When I was flying to Istanbul, where I had a connection to Kyiv, I read on social media that war had broken out. I couldn't get home because the skies were closed. I lived in Europe for several months, volunteering. And then I returned to America to be closer to my daughter. She and I are very close, very connected. She lives with her mom, but I take her every week for the weekend."

Later it became known that Dmytro Stupka was not alone again. His chosen one was Ukrainian singer Barabanova, with whom the actor now lives in the United States. "I haven't seen Dmytro and my granddaughter since September 2021," Ostap Stupka says of his eldest son, "for more than three years. Maybe I will have the opportunity to go abroad for work and I will be lucky enough to see my family. I would really like that."

Ostap Stupka says he sees himself in each of his three children: "In Ustyna, Dmytro, and Bohdan. A little bit of me is everywhere. Unfortunately, the war scattered everyone. At one time, when my father was alive, he used to gather us all for New Year's holidays. He would put on a bow tie and a white shirt, and laugh: "Greetings from Don Corleone". Unfortunately, this is not the case now. But I dream of bringing all the children together."
