At the age of 73, the life of British actress Olivia Hussey, who managed to win the favor of the audience as a teenager by playing the lead role in the movie Romeo and Juliet, was cut short. The star died of natural causes while with her family.

The sad news was announced by the celebrity's close friends on her Instagram page. They noted that they were deeply affected by the loss of the actress, so they asked her fans to leave them alone for a while.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olivia Hussey, who passed away peacefully at home on December 27, surrounded by her loved ones. Olivia was a wonderful person whose warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her life was filled with passion, love, and dedication to art, spirituality, and kindness to animals," the star's relatives wrote.

Olivia Hussey was born on April 17, 1951 in Buenos Aires. At a young age, she moved to London with her family, where she gradually began to build her career. At first, the actress was given minor roles in little-known works, but in 1968 she had her creative breakthrough. It was then that the film "Romeo and Juliet," directed by Franco Zeffirelli, was released on world screens, making the star recognizable.

The British actress was able to demonstrate her talented performance, so she was invited to join various genre films. She took part in the creation of the drama series "Jesus of Nazareth," the horror "Black Christmas," the thriller "Psycho 4:The Beginning," and many others. In 2016, the star played the lead role in the film Social Suicide, after which she decided to end her acting career.

In 2008, Olivia Hussey faced serious health problems as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. For a long time, she underwent treatment and a mastectomy, after which she reached a state of remission. Unfortunately, in 2018, doctors discovered a new tumor.

Throughout her life, Olivia Hussey has been married three times. Her first husband was the American singer Dean Paul Martin (married 1971-1978), the next to win the star's heart was the Japanese singer Akira Fuse (married 1980-1989), and in 1991 she tied the knot with the artist David Glen Eisley.
