The participant of the Ukrainian National Selection, who withdrew his candidacy after the scandal, applied for Eurovision 2025 from another country

The young singer and participant of the Ukrainian National Selection TESLENKO, who decided to withdraw his candidacy because of the singer ENLEO, who got into a loud scandal for listening to the music of Russian artists, decided to try to prove himself on the international stage and applied for Eurovision 2025 from another country. The artist's name appeared on the longlist of the music contest in San Marino.

Back in early December, an announcement was made on the official Instagram page of the National Selection of a foreign country, stating that 37 representatives from different countries had been registered to participate. Ukraine was also on the list, so TESLENKO had likely submitted its candidacy even before it terminated the contract with "Suspilne."

"We are proud to announce that Una Voce per San Marino 2025 (San Marino National Selection 2025) has exceeded all expectations, breaking the record for registrations! This year, as many as 37 countries will be represented, an extraordinary achievement that confirms our event as a global platform for musical talent. The stage is set to welcome artists from all over the world, united by the dream of winning a place at the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest 2025," the statement reads.

On his Instagram page, TESLENKO commented on the decision to apply for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 from San Marino. He noted that it had always been his dream to take part in the international song contest.

"Friends, we wanted to keep it a secret, but you already know – our application has been shortlisted for the National Selection in San Marino! Our track is filled with Ukrainian motifs and the spirit of Ukraine. We want to strengthen the presence of Ukrainians at the Eurovision Song Contest. For me, Eurovision has always been a dream since childhood. Yes, I dreamed of representing Ukraine, but given the circumstances, I will try to do it from another country," the artist explained.

As a reminder, the scandal at the National Selection erupted around ENLEO, who admitted in an interview that he listens to Russian songs. He noted that he doesn't always prefer tracks by Russian artists, but he occasionally turns on songs by Oxxxymiron, LSP, Markul, and others to feel nostalgic.

After that, TESLENKO's team said that the artist would give up the chance to compete for the opportunity to represent Ukraine on the international stage if his colleague made it to the final. Later, the artist said: "Friends, we withdrew from this year's National Selection for Eurovision to avoid accusations of hype on a sensitive topic. The public broadcaster agreed with our position. Thank you to everyone who supported us. Eurovision is still important to me, so we will hear from you again!"
