Sinead O'Connor's official cause of death has been revealed
In July 2023, Irish music legend Sinead O'Connor, who was 56 years old, passed away. Six months later, the Royal Court of Southwark finally announced the official cause of death.
Thus, the autopsy and subsequent investigation of the death found that O'Connor died "due to natural causes". Metro writes about it.
A law enforcement official added that the proceedings regarding the singer's death have been terminated.
"We confirm that Ms. O'Connor died of natural causes. Therefore, the coroner has ceased his participation in the investigation of her death," the journalists quoted the official statements of the court.
Last July, police were called to the star's home in London after she was found "lifeless". Family and friends issued a statement that they were devastated and asked for privacy "at this very difficult time." On December 8, 2023, Sinead O'Connor could have turned 57 years old.
Earlier, O'Connor's relatives were informed that her death would not be treated as suspicious. Some media outlets suggested that the artist, who became famous for Prince's song Nothing Compares 2 U and released 10 music albums throughout her life, was taken by cancer.
It is known that throughout her life, the performer had serious mental health problems. The situation worsened after the tragic loss of her son, who committed suicide in January 2022. The artist's friend and producer David Holmes claims that O'Connor "died of a broken heart" because she suffered greatly after her heir committed suicide.
A week after the suicide of 17-year-old Shane, the singer also tried to commit suicide. She wrote on social media that she had "decided to follow her son" because she saw no point in living without him, and also called herself "shit." This episode from the singer's past gave some fans reason to assume that she had made another suicide attempt, which this time proved fatal.
It should be noted that Sinead is survived by three children - sons Jake Reynolds and Joshua Francis Neal and daughter Roisin.
We would also like to add that shortly before her death, the singer wrote on her Facebook page that she had returned to London and was finishing work on an album that was to be released next year. She also shared her plans to tour Australia and New Zealand in 2024, as well as Europe, the United States, and other countries in 2025. Read more in our article.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Sinead O'Connor came to her son's funeral in a pink suit. According to the grieving mother, 17-year-old Shane would have liked her bright image.
