The network again started talking about Prince William's "country mistress" amid the scandal with Kate Middleton: who is Rose Hanbury. Photo
Kate Middleton hasn't been seen in public since her mysterious abdominal surgery, and the recent scandal over a photoshopped portrait of the Princess of Wales with her children has sown wild conspiracy theories about her whereabouts and the reasons for her long absence. One of them once again drew attention to Rose Hanbury, Prince William's "country mistress." Internet users and some journalists have speculated that the future king is cheating on his wife, although there is still no direct evidence of this – only rumors that have been circulating since 2019 when the network first started talking about the "affair" William and Rose.
"The kingdom was worried about Kate Middleton's disappearance. Now, Internet detectives are suggesting that Kate's absence may be related to the affair of her husband, the future King of Britain, William," comedian and showman Stephen Colbert said bluntly on Tuesday's episode of his evening show. This was reported by the New York Post .
If not for a suspicious photo of Catherine with a bad photoshop, no one would have started talking about William's "betrayal" again. However, the lack of adequate communication from the palace has provoked a series of speculations around Hanbury, Middleton, and the prince.
Who is Rose Hanbury?
Hanbury, 39, is a member of William and Kate's inner circle. Her connection to the royal family goes back generations, as her grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Lambart, was one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947.
Since 2009, Rose has been married to David Rocksavage, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley. The couple lives in the family estate in Norfolk, Houghton Hall, not far from Anmer Hall, the estate of William and Kate.
The Marquis and Marquess are known to be in touch with the Prince and Princess of Wales. The former attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. Their 15-year-old son, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, was one of the guests of honor at the coronation, along with Prince George, the eldest son of William and Kate. The couple has two other children: Oliver's twin Alexander Hugh and eight-year-old Iris Marina Aline.
Before her marriage, Hanbury worked as a research assistant for Conservative MP Michael Gove. She also pursued a career in modeling but gave it up after her marriage. Today, Hanbury's official title is the Marquess of Cholmondeley.
Rumors of Prince William's infidelity
Rumors of an alleged affair between William and Rose Hanbury made a lot of noise back in 2019 when it was first talked about. It was reported then that the Marquess of Cholmondeley was allegedly a friend of Kate Middleton, and they had a falling out in 2019. Whether this is true or just another guess by journalists remains to be seen.
In 2022, the Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi posted a message claiming that the British royal couple's "extramarital affair is an open secret." The post did not specify that it was about William, but fans drew this conclusion. The prince's lawyer denied all the speculation, calling it "false and very harmful."
Moreover, it is rumored that William's "betrayal" was the reason why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "left" the royal family. The situation, as described in the rumors, was as follows: Markle allegedly found out that William was having an affair with Rose Hanbury and immediately went to Kate Middleton, telling her that tolerating infidelity was disrespectful to herself.
Kate, on the other hand, knowing full well about her husband's infidelities, decided to go to William and asked him to have a conversation with her brother to "reason with Meghan Markle." William did just that. Rumor has it that he did not speak well of Meghan, and was slapped in the face for it. Eventually, this scandal led to the loudest royal quarrel of the century.
As you know, on January 16, Kate Middleton was hospitalized for abdominal surgery. Representatives of Kensington Palace reported at the time that the 42-year-old Princess of Wales would stay in the hospital for about two weeks, after which she would not appear in public until Easter. The mysterious illness sparked many rumors among fans of the British royal family, but the circumstances became even more strange after a photo of Catherine with her children was published on Mother's Day.
Journalists found out that the photo was "fake." They even conducted an investigation and published the image's metadata, which proved that the photo was photoshopped. However, the most interesting thing is that after removing the badly edited image, the palace refused to publish the original one, because it probably doesn't exist.
Later, fans of the royal family discovered another possible sign of editing in a recent photo of the Welsh couple. The picture shows Prince William and Kate Middleton leaving Windsor Castle. However, the bricks behind the car do not match the color of the bricks seen through the car window.
