Dutch support for Joost Klein after disqualification

Although the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 final has already passed, the outrage over the disqualification of the country's representative Jost Klein has not subsided in the Netherlands. His entry track Europapa is even being played in churches as a sign of support.

The relevant videos have been shared on X (formerly Twitter), and the original has garnered over 300 thousand likes on TikTok. Residents of the Netherlands do not find polite words for the European broadcaster that banned Klein from participating in the final.

As a reminder, the representative of the Netherlands performed spectacularly in the semifinals and was preparing to go on stage on May 11 when the EBU suddenly announced his disqualification. As it turned out, the artist scared a cameraman who was filming him without permission, which even led to the police taking an interest in the violent incident.

However, not everyone agreed with the European broadcaster's decision. Before the final, the fans of the bookmaker's leader collected hundreds of thousands of signatures in support of him, but they were not listened to.

After the competition in his home country, Joost Klein received strong support on television, social media, and even in churches. The Europop tune could be heard in various holy places.

"They didn't want Joost Klein to win Eurovision, so Joost Klein won humanity," wrote the star's fans.

The satirical show "Even Tot Hier" presented a parody of the artist's performance, where he mocked Eurovision and asked to "get the fuck out of the Netherlands."

"We are overboard with Europe. The EBU has failed Jost. Go to hell, bye-bye," they sang on the show.
