The final of Miss Universe 2023, which took place on the night of November 18-19 in El Salvador, was won by Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua. She is a 23-year-old model and morning show host on a local TV channel. The woman became the first Nicaraguan to win the crown at the prestigious contest.

OBOZ.UA decided to tell what is known about this year's winner and show her photo. Sheynnis actively maintains her Instagram page, where she has more than 632 thousand followers (at the time of writing).

Palacios was born on May 31, 2000, in Managua, Nicaragua. She studied at the Central American University, majoring in mass communication. At the same time, she was part of the university's volleyball team. The woman received her university degree in May 2022, which she announced to her fans.

In February of this year, Palacios became the face of a morning show on one of Nicaragua's most popular TV channels. "A gift from heaven, I am happy and grateful for this opportunity, you have no idea how much it means to me, I am happy to come to your homes every morning through the screen," the beauty shared her impressions of her new job with her followers.

However, her path to the coveted crown began in childhood. Sheynnis has participated in more than one beauty pageant and very often, if not won, she was among the leaders. Thus, in 2016, she won the title of Young Miss Nicaragua, and later represented her country in the international arena and entered the top 10.

In 2020, Palacios won another crown at Miss World Nicaragua 2020. The international pageant was canceled due to COVID-19, but the woman was still able to compete for the crown the following year. She entered the top 40 at Miss World 2021.

On August 5, 2023, Palacios won the title of Miss Nicaragua 2023, earning the right to represent her homeland at the Miss Universe pageant.

The crown was handed to Sheynnis Palacios by last year's winner, representing the United States, R'Bonnie Gabriel. The Nicaraguan could not hold back her tears and emotions of sincere happiness. She has not had time to comment on her new title on social media yet.

Sheynnis became the fifth Nicaraguan representative to reach the semifinals of Miss Universe and the first to win.

Special attention should also be paid to the national costume of the delegate for the competition. She appeared in front of the audience in the costume of a black bird, Zanate.

"Spreading my wings in the wind, I am an elegant and beautiful black Zanate with rainbow colors and a beautiful song. I am the inspiration for this beautiful piece of dark tones, which personifies adversity with rainbow sparks that show that there is always light at the end of the road. I am cheerful, loud, sharp, optimistic and ready for a new day, cheering up the parks and fields of my beautiful Nicaragua and all of Latin America," Palacios commented on her look.

As a reminder, Ukraine was represented by Anhelina Usanova. She is a Kyiv-based singer, model and volunteer. As you know, the contest was not without scandals. At the welcome party in El Salvador, Anhelina sat at the same table as a Russian woman. Apparently, the organizers of the contest tried to create the illusion of "friendship" between the participants from the warring countries again.
