Son of legendary Bohdan Stupka tells how his father predicted the war in Ukraine with one phrase
Actor Ostap Stupka, the son of legendary Ukrainian actor Bohdan Stupka, says his father felt that war with Russia was inevitable. Stupka's family has an apartment in the center of Kyiv, close to all the main government buildings in the capital. While in peacetime it was considered prestigious, during the war it was quite dangerous.
In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Ostap Stupka said that his father thought about this and even once said a phrase: "What if there is a war and a missile?" His words, according to Ostap Stupka, were confirmed recently when a missile arrived at a house located 300 meters from the house where Ostap Stupka's mother lives.
"My parents lived (and my mother still lives) near the Franko Theater, which, as you know, is located in the government quarter of the capital," says Ostap Stupka, "My mother was happy: 'Oh, how good, Bohdan, it's close to work, close to shops, the market, the presidential administration. And my father once said: "What if there's a war and a missile?" Can you imagine? He seemed to feel something. And this arrival in early January to the apartment where the couple of scientists were killed is not a confirmation of these words? My mother lives about three hundred meters from that house."
The actor also told how his family survived the first months of the full-scale invasion: "The day before, on February 23, we were performing the play "Peer Gynt" in the theater. My friends came to see me – we sat in the dressing room, talked, and left late. At five in the morning, a friend from New York calls me: "Man, get up, it's started." "What's started?" "The war. I went to the TV, our TV wasn't broadcasting anything yet, and then the news started. I took my mom with me because there were rumors that it was dangerous to be in the government quarter. And we lived together for two months, I think."
