Russians "killed" an occupying writer who never existed in the war in Ukraine
Russian media spread fake news about the liquidation of Oleg Bildaev, a writer from the town of Dyatkovo, in Ukraine. Bryansk publicists published an obituary that stated that the Russian had been fatally wounded and added a photo of Norwegian musician Varg Vikernes, who was serving a 16-year prison sentence for murder.
The disinformation was refuted by their own colleagues, who said that no one in Dyatkovo knew of a volunteer with that name. Moreover, no one had read his books either.
The original source of the fake was the public group "Overheard in Dyatkovo," where a certain writer was "buried" without disclosing the details of his death and the direction of his service.
The deceased was called "honest and good" and explained that he was a volunteer. However, not even a photo of the Russian was found.
Instead, for some reason, the Russian media began publishing an old photo of Varg Vikernes, a Norwegian musician and murderer who openly supports Russia and criticizes Europe and NATO. After the musician was released in 2009, he wrote that "the USSR had no right to give Crimea to Ukraine."
In 2021, Vikernes was added to the database of the Peacemaker Center for anti-Ukrainian propaganda. It is not explained why his face "graced" articles about the murdered writer.
However, the Russian media asked a local journalist whether such an author existed at all, and received a negative answer.
"Our colleagues have once again blown a frog through a straw. Although there is a penalty for fake news, the valiant law enforcement agencies and Roskomnadzor shyly look away," the fake news exposers wrote.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that a 37-year-old Russian director and choreographer of the Ryazan Musical Theater Alexander Saprunov was killed in the war in Ukraine. Read more details here.
