Russian singer Malinin, who holds the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, supports the occupiers: the artist was framed by his wife

Malinin is silent about the war in Ukraine

The Soviet and Russian singer Oleksandr Malinin, who became the People's Artist of Ukraine in 2004, has chosen a silent and rather controversial position on the war. The 65-year-old artist simultaneously wants to live in Europe and provide his children with a decent existence outside the Russian Federation, but he is not ready to give up his rubles. For almost two years, the star managed to do this unnoticed, until he had to deceive Russian officials.

Deputies of the Saratov Regional Duma set a condition for the artist: he had to support the war on stage and apologize for having once expressed respect for Ukrainians and our culture. Malinin promised to give a "patriotic" speech and did not do so, for which he is now called a "coward" in Russia and predicted to cancel all concerts. OBOZ.UA decided to find out more about Malinin's position.

The Russian singer has always been loyal to Ukrainians, even though he was born in Russia. In 2004, as we already wrote, he received a state award, and at the height of the Revolution of Dignity, he was in Kyiv, where he gave a concert with the Veriovka Choir.

The artist assured us that he was worried about Ukrainians, wished peace to his neighbors, and enjoyed singing Ukrainian songs.

By the way, he has a decent command of the Ukrainian language and performs "Chervona Kalyna" and other songs without any problems.

Back in 2021, the Russian was invited to perform at the celebrations dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the city of Bolhrad, Odesa region. He had no problems entering Ukraine because he did not publicly support the occupation and Kremlin propaganda.

However, after Russia insidiously invaded Ukrainian cities from several directions simultaneously on February 24, 2022, Malinin disappeared until the summer. As propagandists later found out, he moved abroad and did not return to live in Russia for a long time.

Malinin ignored the genocide of Ukrainians and sometimes visited Russian cities with concerts. At the end of 2023, he finally returned to Russian secular life, where for some time the star was not forced to declare his position.

According to the Russian media, before the concert in Saratov, the performer promised to speak out in support of the so-called "SVO" at one of his performances but did not keep his word.

"This will remain on the conscience of the artist Malinin. It is difficult or even impossible to sit on two chairs under certain circumstances. You have to be honest with the people you perform for, and not treat the audience as fodder. Otherwise, you can choke to death," threatened Mariia Usova, a member of the regional Duma.

Some fans at this stage supported the singer for his allegedly anti-war stance, but his wife Emma shed light on the artist's position.

In addition to earning money in Russia for 8 months of the year and paying taxes to terrorists, Malinin's team also donates part of the tickets for each performance to participants in the hostilities against Ukraine.

In the public space, Malinin tries to look like an "apolitical" singer in order not to lose the opportunity to live in Germany, where he has a house. In addition, almost all of his children live in Europe, the UK, and the US. Only one son, Nikita, remained in Russia and managed to get into the Myrotvorets base.
