Royal expert explains why Charles III plans to gather more than 40 relatives together for Christmas

Why Charles III will gather more than 40 relatives for Christmas

King Charles III of England is preparing to celebrate Christmas with 45 of his closest relatives. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, this year's holiday will be special for the royal family.

She explained in a comment to OK! that the decision to spend Christmas in a new way was made after the most important members of the royal family experienced major health problems this year: Charles III and Kate Middleton underwent cancer treatment, and Queen Camilla had a chest infection. In order to see all of the special family members while they are still well, the King invited a near-record number of relatives.

"After the year they’ve had, I’m sure it’s going to mean the world to the King and Queen to have as many of their family as possible joining them for Christmas. And, as the number of youngsters increases, so the celebrations become more and more child oriented. Which is exactly what Christmas should be all about," explained the expert.

She also added, "I’m sure this will be a Christmas when the whole family will want to unite around Charles and Camilla, and William and Catherine, to help put this year behind them and cheer them into a brighter year ahead."

Jennie Bond addressed this issue as Prince William appeared at a seasonal event in Wiltshire for the families of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment as Colonel-in-Chief. While there, the Prince of Wales admitted that he and Kate Middleton were looking forward to celebrating with 45 members of the Royal Family.

"We’ll be in Norfolk, at Sandringham. We'll be 45 for Christmas. It won't be quiet, it will be noisy. Am I ready for Christmas? No, no way am I ready," Prince William said.

The event is likely to welcome Charles III and his wife Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, Princess Beatrice and her family, Princess Eugenie accompanied by her closest relatives, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their heirs. They celebrate Christmas at the Windsor's private estate every year.
