80-year-old Robert De Niro spoke about his "great joy" after the tragic death of his grandson Leandro

After the death of his 19-year-old grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, American actor and producer Robert De Niro seeks solace in his ten-month-old daughter Virginia. The celebrity says that when he is with the baby, all his problems immediately disappear.

Gia, a child with 45-year-old Tiffany Chen, has become a part of the light for the De Niro family, bringing great joy. "She is such an adorable child. She's so sweet," the actor told People about his youngest daughter. However, De Niro noted that Gia is very similar to him as a child.

"This [his childhood photo – Ed.] reminds me of my two youngest girls [daughters: 10-month-old Gia and 12-year-old Helen]. I also see it in one of my grandchildren," the "The Intern" star said about his resemblance to his children.

The 80-year-old father is incredibly fond of his youngest daughter. After the death of his 19-year-old grandson Leandro from an overdose of a mixture of drugs in July 2023, Gio became almost the only consolation for the actor.

"She is such a charming child. She's so sweet. When I look at her, everything else disappears. So it's a great joy and relief to just be with her at that moment. All the children get a lot of pleasure from her. Even the grandchildren," the producer said.

De Niro has 7 children in total – his own, adopted, and born to surrogate mothers. The actor seems to be an avid family man, as he loves it when all his children and grandchildren can get together. In particular, he tries to pass on to his followers all the knowledge and experience he has gained over a long life.

"The fact that they would all be together is all I need. Just being together, traveling to warm countries," the actor said.
