Queen of the United Kingdom cancels work events due to serious illness: what is her condition
Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom canceled a number of planned events due to a chest infection. However, she is determined and does not plan to stay on sick leave for a long time - she wants to continue her royal duties this weekend.
The doctors advised her to rest at home for a short period of time and recover. The Queen agreed and therefore canceled several important events, the BBC reports, citing Buckingham Palace.
Camilla will miss the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, scheduled for Thursday, November 7. She will be replaced by the Duchess of Gloucester, Brigitte, wife of Prince Richard (cousin of Queen Elizabeth II). During this annual event, people come to Westminster Abbey to pay tribute to those who have died while serving in the armed forces.
She will also miss Thursday's event, which was hosted by King Charles III. A meeting with Olympic and Paralympic athletes is to take place at Buckingham Palace. From all the royal family only the King will be attending it this time.
However, there is no need to worry about Queen Camilla's health due to her plans to attend the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday and the National Service of Remembrance ot Whitehall on Sunday.
"Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest. With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
