On the night of February 18-19, the Royal Festival Hall in London hosted the BAFTA Awards ceremony, which Prince William attended. The heir to the British throne has been the president of the EE British Academy Film Awards since 2010, so he regularly appears on the red carpet of the prestigious award. In 2017, he was joined by his wife Kate Middleton, but this time the Princess of Wales watched the event from the palace, as she was still undergoing rehabilitation after abdominal surgery.

As you know, the Princess of Wales will not appear in public until Easter, so for now, William attends such events in proud solitude. However, it would be wrong to call the son of King Charles III lonely. At the ceremony, he was accompanied by world-famous stars, including actress Cate Blanchett and former footballer David Beckham. The 41-year-old prince appeared on the red carpet in his signature navy velvet jacket. He wore a white shirt and bow tie underneath. The look, which also included black pants and shoes, was complemented by an Omega Seamaster Quartz watch with a steel case and bracelet. It was reported that the accessory was a gift from his late mother, Lady Diana.

After meeting with the organizers and journalists, William regretfully said: "I'm sorry Katherine isn't here, she really loves BAFTA."

The prince also frankly admitted that he had not watched most of the nominated films, although in previous years he had been more responsible in this regard. However, the heir to the throne emphasized that he has a lot on his mind right now and has "other things on his mind."

Thus, it came as a shock to journalists and fans that William had not yet seen the high-profile blockbuster Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. However, the prince said that he would definitely rectify the situation and "catch up." He also said that he had already watched Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer . The film, by the way, became the main winner of this year's BAFTAs.

As we have already noted, William was accompanied at the ceremony by the world-famous Australian actress Cate Blanchett. It was next to her that the Prince of Wales sat during the announcement of the results. Having met the star, the son of the king warmly greeted her with his arms and a big smile.

In addition, William met with his old friend David Beckham. The prince and the iconic footballer shook hands and had a short conversation, during which they both laughed heartily. Interestingly, the athlete also attended the ceremony without his wife Victoria Beckham.

The Ukrainian documentary 20 Days in Mariupol won in its category. The film's director, Mstyslav Chernov, and the producer, Vasylisa Stepanenko, who worked with him and photojournalist Yevhen Malolhetka in the besieged Mariupol in 2022, took the stage to accept the award. As we have already mentioned, the main winner of the evening was the film Oppenheimer.
