The son of Kate Middleton and Prince William, Prince George, must follow an important rule that has been in effect since the Duke of Cambridge's childhood because of his proximity to the top of the king's throne. At the age of 12, the very young prince will be recommended to fly with his parents on a separate plane. He has only 1 year and 10 days to wait before this change happens.

In 2020, an insider told Closer Weekly that Kate Middleton had already spoken to Prince George when he was 7 about his future role as king, so a possible partial separation from the family could be the next step in expanding the teenager's responsibilities.
"William and Kate have already spoken to George and Charlotte about their future roles but in a childlike way so that they understand without feeling overwhelmed. George knows he has something special and that one day he will be the future King of England," he said.
