Potap performed in a pro-Russian club in Germany with a Russian-language repertoire. Video
Famous Ukrainian rapper Oleksiy Potapenko, aka Potap, gave his first concert in Germany since the full-scale invasion on April 6. According to sources, he chose a pro-Russian club for the show, and the repertoire included old Russian-language hits by Potap and Nastya, Time and Glass, and Mozgi.
And while the musician himself posts a video on his Instagram of himself singing perhaps the only Ukrainian-language song "Best Day" from the movie Crazy Wedding, other videos from the concert are also circulating online. In particular, the MUZVAR portal published a video of Potap performing the track "Not a Couple."
Instead of Nastia Kamenskykh and Nadia Dorofeeva, all the female parts were performed by an unknown vocalist Daria Shevchenko, who hails from Dnipro.
It was the journalists of MUZVAR who assured us that the concert was held in a pro-Russian club.
"Potap made it to the shore. The soldier of the absentee Territorial Defense Forces in Barcelona gave his first concert since the full-scale invasion in a pro-Russian club in Germany. There, together with MOZGI band member Dred, a DJ and a soloist, he performed a Russian-language hodgepodge of hits from all possible bands - Potap and Nastya, Vremya i Steklo, MOZGI... All this action took place under the "Ukrainian/Russian Party" sauce. That is, creating a common cultural space for an artist is still okay," music reviewers commented.
It should be noted that the day before, a poster announcing Potap's performances in Germany was circulated online, where he was presented as a "Russian retro" artist. The rapper later commented on this situation, assuring that the venues used a poster that he had not finalized with him, and he allegedly sincerely apologized for "not paying attention." However, insiders told OBOZ.UA the following: "The situation when an artist is not aware of what is depicted on the poster is usually impossible in principle... Performers always agree on it. If an artist claims that he or she has not seen the poster, it is nothing more than a "standard excuse."
Although Potap has denied that he presents himself abroad as a representative of "Russian retro," his concert repertoire is replete with Russian-language tracks. The rapper obviously tries to hide this from the audience, posting only "correct" videos or fragments of them where no Russian words are heard.
In the comments, the audience is outraged that they are being taken for fools. In particular, one of the commenters noted: "Well, yes, the main thing is not to post videos with Russian songs, and no one will know anything."
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote about Potap's scandals. The rapper called some of the fans' accusations "nonsense" and called himself an athlete who "ecologically lives defeat".
