Oscar-winning songwriter and author of the cult Titanic song My Heart Will Go On has died
Will Jennings, the author of the hit song My Heart Will Go On from the legendary movie Titanic, died at his home in Tyler, Texas, USA, on September 7. The Oscar-winning star was 80 years old.
His caretaker Martha Sherrod reported about the songwriter's death to The Hollywood Reporter. The woman noted that over the past five or six years, Will had been complaining of poor health. However, she did not disclose the cause of death or whether he had a disease.
The famous lyricist has won two Oscars for his work: the first for the song Up Where We Belong from the movie An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), and the second for My Heart Will Go On from Titanic (1997).
Will Jennings shared his second Oscar with co-writer and composer James Horner. The song My Heart Will Go On was performed by the famous singer Celine Dion. It is in her performance that the legendary hit is best known and is one of the most successful in the world. The songwriter also won a Golden Globe for Best Soundtrack. Among other things, he has been awarded three Grammy Awards for his other works.
