Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman, his wife and dog were found dead: police give first comment

On February 26, the famous American actor, two-time Oscar winner Gene Hackman died at the age of 95. The tragedy occurred in his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, where the celebrity lived with his wife, 63-year-old pianist Betsy Arakawa. According to preliminary information, the couple and their dog were found dead in the house.

According to The Mirror, official sources do not report the cause of death, but the Santa Fe County Sheriff confirmed that there were no signs of violent death on the actor's body. The investigation to find out all the circumstances of this tragedy is ongoing, but so far no grounds for suspicion of a crime have been found.

"All I can say is that we are in the middle of a preliminary investigation into the death, waiting for a search warrant to be approved. I want to reassure the community and neighbors that no one is in immediate danger," said the law enforcement officer in charge of the case.

The couple, who have been married since 1991, have led a private and quiet life at their New Mexico residence since Gene Hackman retired from acting in the mid-2000s. In recent years, he indulged in his new passion, writing, publishing several historical novels, where he also showed his literary abilities.

Gene Hackman was one of the biggest stars of Hollywood in the 1960s and 1980s and left an indelible mark on cinema through his roles in many cult films. In 1971, he won his first Oscar for his role in the classic film The French Connection, and he won a second Oscar in 1992 for his role in Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven. These awards were just a few of the many honors he received in a career that spanned more than 60 films.

Hackman is particularly well known for his roles in Superman (1978), where he played one of the most memorable characters, Lex Luthor, as well as The Tenenbaums (2001) and What Happens in Las Vegas (2008). His career became an example for many actors of that time, he was known for his ability to transform into various roles and give depth to his characters.
