Not Ukraine: bookmakers have made the first bets on the winner of Eurovision 2024

Next May, powerful vocalists from all over the world will gather in Malmö, Sweden, to compete for victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. As of November 15, 2023, only one country has confirmed its representative and song for the contest. However, bookmakers have already placed the first bets on the potential winner.

It is unclear how analysts compile statistics without knowing the contest numbers of the participating countries. Presumably, they do so by taking into account the political situation in the world to support a particular country. For example, Israel currently holds the first place in the bookmakers' ranking published on the Eurovision World website, where the conflict with Palestinian terrorists Hamas intensified in October.

The country, which has not yet decided on its representative, has 8% odds of winning. With a small margin of one percent, Ukraine took the second place. Currently, a shortlist of participants in the National Selection is being formed. The top three leaders with the same 7% coefficient are Sweden, where the singer Loreen won in 2023.

Next on the list are Italy and Norway with 6% and 5%, respectively. The top 10 also include France, Spain, Finland, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands.

Interestingly, France, which took the sixth position in the bookmakers' list, has already chosen its representative at the National Selection and presented the contest song. The singer Slimane has the opportunity to defend the country's honor in the song arena with his lyrical composition "Mon Amour," which the author himself characterizes as "an ode to love and romance."
