"Night at the Museum" star Stiller responded to the rumor that he was paid for his trip to Ukraine and revealed who was behind it
Ben Stiller, the American actor and star of the adventure comedy "Night at the Museum," has responded to rumors circulating online that his visit to Ukraine in 2022 was allegedly funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). According to the celebrity, such fakes are absolute nonsense created by the Russian media.
He emphasized that he paid for his visit to our country on his own. The producer announced this on his page on the social network X.
"Absolute nonsense. This is a lie of the Russian media. I paid for my humanitarian trip to Ukraine on my own. There was no funding from USAID and, of course, no personal payments," the actor said.
It is worth noting that the video, created by Russian propagandists to discredit Ukraine and USAID, was posted on his account on X by American billionaire Elon Musk. The video says that the agency allegedly financed visits of Hollywood stars to Ukraine. According to the video, Angelina Jolie allegedly received a "fee" of $20 million, Jean-Claude van Damme "earned" $1.5 million, Orlando Bloom – $8 million, Sean Penn – $5 million, and Ben Stiller was "paid" $4 million. However, the celebrities themselves deny the loud statements of the propagandists.
As a reminder, Ben Stiller came to Ukraine in the summer of 2022. First, the celebrity visited Lviv and then went to Kyiv region and the capital. During his trip, the actor visited cities that were occupied by the Russian army. The star admitted that for the first time in his life, he came to a country where active hostilities were taking place and was amazed by the destruction the occupiers brought to Ukrainian lands.
"In Lviv, people seem to be returning to normal life, trying their best. And then when you get closer and closer to Kyiv, to the east of the country, you start to see checkpoints and destruction, which is really shocking when you haven't seen anything like this up close," Stiller said.
In addition, according to the actor, he was impressed by the resilience and indomitability of Ukrainians.
