New Eurovision rules: voting will last longer, and the host country and the Big Five will perform in the semifinals

Eurovision rules will change this year

For the first time in many years, the voting process for the Eurovision Song Contest has undergone significant changes. From now on, there will be much more time to cast your vote.

The live performances of the host country and the Big Five founding countries will take place in the semifinals instead of the final, which was not the case before. The changes will be announced on the Eurovision website.

The audience voting in the final on May 11 will start not after all the contestants have performed, but as soon as the first participant takes the stage. This will allow more viewers who can't watch the show in full to take their time and vote for their favorite.

Viewers in countries not participating in the final song competition will have one day before each of the live shows to choose their favorite performance.

The online voting will open after the second dress rehearsal before the semi-finals and final and will continue until the performances.

As for the countries that will automatically qualify for the final the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, as well as the 2024 host Sweden – the participants will also have to sing live in the semifinals.
